Many people and organizations have played a role in developing and implementing the Sustainable DC Plan.
The Sustainable DC Plan was the product of the work of thousands of residents, workers, students, subject matter experts, and others. From the first meeting packed with 440 people at the Washington Convention Center, participation in the plan has only increased.
More than 700 people participated in the nine working groups, which met over the fall and winter of 2011 and 2012. These dedicated volunteers developed the initial visions, goals, and actions for each subject area of the plan.
Green Ribbon Committee
Community leaders representing universities, non-profit organizations, businesses, think tanks, and members of the community ensured that multiple voices from across the District were represented in the development and implementation of the plan.
Twenty-seven District Government agency directors sit on an internal advisory board to help steer plan development and implementation.
Successfully implementing the Sustainable DC Plan will require expanding our team to a much broader group. Already partnerships have been formed with key sectors, including higher education, the international community, and downtown businesses.
